We had a fabulous Christmas Eve yesterday. My brother got to town way earlier than we thought he would (he's still messed up from the time change from being in China - he fell asleep at 6:30 last night). I took him and his friend out to lunch when we picked up the gift certificate for my grandma. We went back to our parents' house and set up the Wii that his girlfriend bought him for Christmas and then the whole family played Tiger Woods Golf. :)
We got the tree decorated, ate way too much food, talked by the fire, played cards, and then my mom and I watched the movie
Elf. Then I went home to sleep in my own bed. This is the first Christmas that I haven't woken up in my parents' house. It makes me feel grown-up (which is good and bad), but at least I got a good night's sleep (despite the cat who demands I wake up every night around 2:30am...).
As soon as I finish writing this, I'll get dressed and then head back over there for a fabulous Christmas breakfast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and muffins from My Favorite Muffin. This year we'll wait until my grandma gets back from church to open presents (normally we spend Christmas Eve at her house and do presents with her over there, but this year due to my brother's schedule we didn't). Santa brought me a washer & dryer earlier this month, so I won't have much to open this morning, but I'm excited to give everyone their presents!
After we open presents, we'll talk and play cards and just generally hang out until dinner time and we'll eat around 5 or 6. Our Christmas dinner is a repeat of Thanksgiving, basically. We have turkey and mashed potatoes and dressing and probably green beans. And my grandma brought a chocolate cake. (In addition to all the crazy sweets we have already - I brought cookies, my brother's girlfriend Kristen sent all these different kinds of candy she made.
And on that note, my tummy is growling, so I'm going to head on over there! Merry Christmas, everyone!!!
PS: Not that I'm in any rush for this to happen, really, but we need a bunch of little kids around to make Christmas really magical again! I'm just saying!
